January 18 – CISFC 2017 Annual Work Conference - 2016 Annual Assessment and Recognition Conference was convened in Beijing. The theme of the Conference was “Strengthening Foundation and Safeguards for a New Insurance Security Fund.”
January 31 – CCTV’s flagship news program Xinwen Lianbo reported that “the balance of China’s Insurance Security Fund has exceeded RMB 90 billion.”
March 15 – CIRC’s Insurance Consumer Interests Protection Bureau and CISFC jointly published the 2016 China Insurance Consumer Confidence Index which rose from 69.2 in 2015 to 71.2 in 2016, indicating a greater confidence level among insurance consumers.
April 11-12 – The 13th meeting of CISFC’s Risk Assessment Expert Committee for Insurance Industry was held in Beijing.
April 30 – The Insurance Security Fund exceeded the 100-billion threshold with a balance of RMB 101.414 billion. Property insurance fund and life insurance fund amounted to RMB 65.414 billion and RMB 36.0 billion, respectively, accounting for 64.5% and 35.5% of the total.
June 27 – CISFC held the Outstanding Party Members and Teams Award Ceremony & Secretary’s Party Lecture, which was attended by all party members at CISFC.
July 5 – CISFC held the 3rd Insurance Security Fund Forum on the theme of “Managing Insurance Industry Risks and Reforming the Insurance Security Fund System,” and published the 2017 Risk Assessment Report on Chinese Insurance Industry.
August 10 – CISFC CPC Committee arranged a special party event at Xiong’an New Area, Hebei for all party members and some non-party members at CISFC.
August 31 – Publication of the Research on Organizational Operation and Risk Management of Mutual Insurance, which was co-authored by CIRC and CISFC and highly relevant to improving the risk management mechanism for mutual insurance in China.
September 19 – The first issue of CISFC’s Observation of Insurance Risk was published with the approval of CIRC. Designed as a specialized internal journal focusing on risk management in the insurance industry, Observation of Insurance Risk provides a platform for policy research, practice analysis, and industry exchange for regulators as well as industry experts, scholars and professionals. It has received wide support and recognition from CIRC leaders and industry experts.
September 27 – CISFC held the 2017 Review Meeting of Insurance Security Fund Collection and Management.
September – CPC chapters at CISFC organized special classes on party spirit at Shaoshan (Hunan Province) and Chongqing.
October 12-13 – CISFC held the 2017 Insurance Security Fund Asset Management Meeting.
November 28 – CISFC received the Notice of the Ministry of Finance on the Preparation of Final Accounts by Chinese Financial Companies in 2016 and was named as an “Outstanding Central Financial Company.”
November 28-29 – The 15th meeting of CISFC’s Risk Assessment Expert Committee for Insurance Industry was held in Beijing.
December – CISFC publicly listed its 862 million China Insurance shares at Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange, which were successfully sold to Fubon Life Insurance Co., Ltd., one of the shareholders of China Insurance.
